DESERT ISLAND DISCS: TWIGGY

Desert Island Discs: TWIGGY: Desert Island Discs began in 1942 and continues as a beloved institution in the UK. In each segment, listeners are treated to in-depth discussions with interesting personalities (much like NPR'sFresh Air), which include special music and book selections chosen by the guests. Many Spy Vibe heroes have appeared on the program, offering rare glimpses into their lives and careers. Hosts have been Roy Plomley, Sue Lawley, and the fabulous interviewer Kirsty Young, who has hosted since 2006. An archive of the show is now available on the BBC site. Some episodes are available on iTunes.

Today on Spy Vibe we listen in on Sue Lawley's chat with Twiggy, recorded on January 8th, 1989. Twiggy talks about her career, modeling during the Swinging London era, and how she coped with her media success. Twiggy's discs include The Beatles, The Fureys, Stan Greening, and Ruth Etting. 40minutes.
